Resident Card for 10 Years in France: What You Need to Know

Learn how to obtain a 10-year resident card in France and what requirements must be met for successful processing.

If the applicant has legally resided in France for 5 years, they may be eligible for a 10-year resident card. This card grants the right to engage in any professional activity in France. To obtain it, one must have sufficient and stable income, as well as demonstrate integration into France.
Starting in 2026, obtaining the first resident card will require passing a mandatory civic integration exam. The exam consists of 40 questions about French laws, history, culture, the structure of the state, and the principles of the French Republic.
