Requirements for Obtaining a Resident Card in France

Learn about the requirements for obtaining a resident card in France after 5 years of residence with Visiteur status.
The Visiteur status does not require tax declarations for a status change. However, to obtain a 10-year resident card after 5 years of residence in France with Visiteur status, many prefectures require tax declarations for the last 3-5 years.
In the Nice prefecture, this is not currently required. Instead, it is necessary to provide a bank statement confirming sufficient funds for living in France. A bank statement for each year for the last 5 years is required, similar to what is submitted when renewing status.
It is also necessary to provide a certificate of French language proficiency at least at the B1 level if you are under 65 years old. If you are over 65 years old, there is no need to confirm the level of French language. A certificate of passing the integration test will be required.
