10-Year Resident Card in France: Important Aspects
The 10-year resident card in France is unavailable in cases of legal violations. Adhering to all conditions increases the chances of obtaining long-term status.
Only two clients throughout my practice did not receive a 10-year resident card. In both cases, the reason was legal issues in France.
The 10-year resident card is not issued to those who violate the laws of the French Republic. If the applicant has legal problems, this poses a serious obstacle to obtaining long-term status in France, let alone French citizenship.
Neither a specialist nor a perfectly prepared file can change this factor. In both cases, the clients received an extension of their current residence permit, but they did not obtain the 10-year resident card.
It is important not to conceal such information and not to shift responsibility onto the specialist. The sooner all circumstances that may be relevant to the consideration of the file are communicated, the lower the risk of wasting time, facing a refusal, and having unjustified expectations.
The most important thing is to not break the law. If all other conditions are met, the chances of obtaining a 10-year resident card and even French citizenship are very high.
